NOVEMBER Writing Club: Rivers' Echoes
Once a month, we host a special Desired Writing Club at a surprise urban location to silently explore together an urban topic through handwriting.
For the November edition, we will be exploring the city through water. Leonidas Oikonomou will welcome us at his studio, Roleplay, and will fight our writers block by introducing his research on the lost Ilissos River. The writing session will last a full hour next to books on rivers, and after writing, we'll ease into an open conversation, sharing reflections and connecting with other city lovers who live in or pass through Athens.
This session invites participants to reflect on how water influences our experience of place and memory. What fantasies do we cultivate on urban rivers?

What is the Desired Writing Club?
One hour of silent, uninterrupted handwriting on cities.
Why do we write?
At Desired Landscapes, we see writing as a tool to understand places, gain perspective, and connect with our inner voice. This ritual helps us stay accountable to our writing desires – whether you’re working on a book, a newsletter, a list, or just a caption. Writing in a group can ease writer’s block and silently connect us with fellow writers.
Who is it for?
Anyone interested in exploring or documenting cities through words. No prior writing experience is needed.
How does it work?
The editor of Desired Landscapes introduces our guest and then sets the writing tone and timer, offering gentle guidance to begin. Sharing texts is optional, conversation is always way broader.

What's the extra of the special editions?
Just like our magazine, our regular writing clubs are not thematic. They happen early in the morning on the roof of our Stoa Anatolis. The special editions are sight-specific, thematic, one-off experiences. We carefully choose locations that we feel should be on the map of Athens and link back to the chosen topic of writing.
Where?
Roleplay, 17 Leocharous street, 105 60 Athens
