Flâneuse: A Writing Workshop
The word flâneur—the figure of the urban wanderer—has gained renewed popularity. But what about the flâneuse? Could she ever roam the city freely, or was her presence always defined by others—made too visible to go unnoticed—too disruptive to be allowed?
Join us for a writing workshop in the heart of Athens to explore what it means to walk as a woman. Through a blend of walking and writing, we’ll reflect on how feminine presence moves through public space—how women have been seen, unseen, or forbidden from wandering the city.
Ideal for writers of all levels, urban explorers, and those curious about the politics of everyday life, this workshop invites you to engage with the city through observation, language, and the simple yet radical act of walking.
We'll begin with a short stroll along Evripidou Street, attuning ourselves to the textures of the neighborhood and how our presence shapes what we see and how we are seen. Back at the roof of Stoa Anatolis, we'll translate these impressions into words through guided writing prompts—both individually and collectively—unlocking new ways of writing the city.
