Desired Landscapes was never just a magazine. It was a way of reading cities and experimenting with words to capture the sense of place.

Editing this magazine has always been a long conversation, as I have been particularly interested not only in professional writers, but also in the rawness and unique viewpoints of creatives, amateurs, and tourists. We would spend hours defining the topic, crafting the angle, and refining the structure, searching for the most fitting way to convey a sense of place. The aim was always the same: to bring together a personal, sometimes emotional, reading of the city with a critical take, all written in everyday language.

After eight years of one-on-one editing, I felt that it was time to open up this process to our readers, and bring such conversations under an educational framework, because, to me, editing is a form of thinking. That’s how the Desired Essays online writing workshop was born.

This edition is an anthology of the stories that sparked conversations during the Desired Essays online writing workshops in 2025. The stories that brought us together. COME WANDER WITH US!
