Walk with an urban academic and get to know modes of exploring the city’s bounty, through the criteria and classifications set by maps and guidebooks of the past.
Imprint 2019 is a publishing fair exploring the city through print. Desired Bloomsbury walk traces a brief history of documenting cities and analyzes the relation of the urban experience to publishing, with Bloomsbury as a case study.
The walking lecture delves into London’s recent history of representation in printed matter, starting from the early 50s up to today. Participants will be introduced to the genre of guidebooks and maps, will see Bloomsbury through the eyes of writers, architects and designers of the 20th century.
