Walk with an Athenian architect and get to know about the devices of lodging in the heart of Athens, as its image is getting rapidly transformed from a bustling commercial hub, to a hype travel destination.
Desired Walks kicked-off in 2015 with “Athens Walkthrough” a walk delving into the Athenian passageways and their vernacular character. Since then, we have teamed up with creatives and historians from Athens and abroad, to share new stories about ordinary spaces. Our latest collab with architect and Desired Landscapes regular editor Evi Sougkara, – undertitled Hotel Village – weaves the tale of Athens’s city center shifting image, from bustling commercial hub, to neglected, disused property, to alternative creative hub, to hype travel destination.
- Navigate through a unique mix of 19th century, modernist, post-war and contemporary buildings, that rapidly refurbished into hotels within the past 3 years.
- Get to know how the notions of community, tourism, inhabitation and the neighborhood assemble the multi-faceted portrait of contemporary Athens
- Discover the city's collective histories and urban myths, by observing architecture and the vernacular.
